As the 2016 Legislative Session begins to ramp up, Erin and I wanted to take this opportunity to flag key legislative deadlines for the 2016 session.  We will continue to read and refer bills that are newly introduced or amended that may be of interest to the Swap Meet industry.  As always please feel free to contact us if you have specific questions or need additional information.

2/19 – Last day to introduce new legislation – Bills have to be in print for 30 days before a policy committee can hear the measure.  Thus the first policy hearings will be in mid to late March with the bulk of the hearings occurring in early April.

4/22 – Last day for policy committees to hear fiscal bills

5/6 – Last day for policy committees to hear non-fiscal bills

5/27 – Last day for fiscal committees to hear and report bills to the floor

6/3 – Last day for each house to pass bills to the second house

6/15 – Budget bill must be passed and sent to Governor

6/30 – Last day for Legislative measures to qualify for November ballot

7/1 – Last day for policy committees to hear bills (second house).  Summer recess begins

8/1 – Summer recess ends

8/12 – Last day for fiscal committees to hear and report bills to the floor (second house)

8/31 – Last day of the Legislative Session
